About Me
I'm Regina Black, a romance author who believes in big emotions and passionate connections. My debut novel, The Art of Scandal, was named one of the year's best romances by Publisher’s Weekly, Amazon, Audible, and more. My second book, August Lane, is about a Black country music star who lied about writing his only hit, risking his comeback to reunite with the woman he stole it from, a first love the lyrics won’t let him forget.
When I'm not writing about art, love, and second chances, I'm a former attorney and current law school administrator who spends too much time making templates, baking bundt cakes, and sharing unsolicited opinions about DC Comics characters.
In The Critical Heart, I explore what makes romance tick—from craft techniques to cultural impact. Drawing from my experience as both a writer and lifelong romance reader, I dig into how these stories reflect and shape our understanding of love, art, and identity. Whether examining current trends, analyzing craft elements, or celebrating the genre's evolution, I'm here to read between the lines of the stories we love.
